Compass Overview of Feng Shui for the Home and Business

North

NorthWestHere we see the trigrams in their later heaven (manifested energy) configuration etched on a 3 foot mirror. This combines glass (a slowly moving liquid), and silver (metal) in the place where, in the later heaven, the maximum yang Chien, (the father, heavenly metal) are combined. The mirror is shown above the hearth (yin) in the northwest.

NortheastHere in the northeast, where water produces wood and self development is the focus, we see the purifying power of eucalyptus above a ‘water produces wood’ floor sculpture. In the latter, the irregular black form sits below a vertical, plant-mountain form. Both are made with impressions of the owner's name.

West

Earlier & Later Heavens 12” square painted wood, clay and glaze.  This schemata uses the form of the earth (a square faux finished as yellow sienna marble), to show the earlier heaven at the center and the later heaven at the perimeter. This is a very useful teaching tool for helping people to see the movement of chi. The relationships between chi in its acorn form (latent=early heaven) and its oak tree form (manifest=later heaven) is easy to track.  For example

East

SouthwestChairs (receptacles) of the same size and style indicate equivalence and movement in conversational seating for the relationship corner (the place of kun, the maximum yin). The owner’s relationship to books is also shown; the illumination activates the space.

South

SoutheastAmong the relationships suggested here is metal and water (creative cycle). In this manifested compass spot of wealth accumulation, it is well to have moving but contained water.
